The Google’s latest flagship Pixel 2 has many features to brag about. Active Edge Squeeze sensitivity on Pixel 2 and Pixel XL is one of those interesting ones! By default, Google provided 9 squeeze sensitivity levels to change the settings. But it seems, users can even more fine tune and change squeeze sensitivity of Active edge using a simple command line. Change Pixel 2’s Squeeze Sensitivity in Settings:

The Active Edge feature primarily launches the Google Assistant quickly and there few native settings available to customize it. As mentioned, there are 9 inbuilt different levels of sensitivity settings from low to high. The lower setting needs users to press harder and higher settings activate edge for a soft squeeze. The higher sensitivity value can lead to frequent launches of Google Assistant which can be annoying. It is advisable to keep the squeeze sensitivity at an optimal level.

Change Pixel 2’s squeeze sensitivity & Fine tune Active Edge

  1. Open Settings>>Apps & notifications.
  2. Then Tap on Advanced menu >> Default apps.
  3. Now Go to Assist & voice input -> Active Edge & change Pixel 2’s squeeze sensitivity.

Now, let’s get into Fine tuning part using ADB command. It allows the users to gain more control over the Active edge. With recent developments from Xda, this fine-tuning has come to light. Following the steps below, users can manually set the sensitivity and they are not allowed to use squeeze sensitivity slider in the device settings (no problem! You can revert back). This will work only on Google Pixel 2 and 2 XL without any root access.

Fine-tune Pixel 2’s Active Edge Squeeze Sensitivity

Step 1: Setup ADB and fastboot on your PC, before you begin.

Even if you are beginner it is no big deal. Here, follow the detailed on setting up Minimal ADB and Fastboot. Also, USB debugging followed by Developer options.

Step 2: Execute the ADB command

In the Minimal ADB directory, Right click while holding a shift key and select Open Powershell Window Here. Then, Enter the following command in the ADB shell Terminal.

For Windows:

adb shell adb shell settings put secure assist_gesture_sensitivity X.XX

For Linux/mac:

./adb shell settings put secure assist_gesture_sensitivity X.XX

Here, Replace the “ X.XX ” part with any value between 0.1 to 1. The value 1.00 is the highest sensitivity to activate edge at a slight squeeze. And In reverse 0.00 is the lowest requiring tight squeeze.

That’s the process to Change Pixel 2’s Squeeze sensitivity or Fine-tune Active Edge. Now play around with command line & find out the value which suits you the best.

Step 3: Reverting Back to Native device Controls

This part is pretty simple! When you want to revert back to the normal 9-step controls, Just go to Active Edge options in the Settings menu and move the slider to your direction. This will override the value that you have set in the previous steps using ADB command.
